There are actually many ways to lower the bounce rate (as someone mentioned above, high bounce rate doesn't necessary mean bad thing, really depends): such as website speed, content, design, Ads and Banners, etc.  Basically, it is all about user experience. If you can improve user experience when he/she lands on your page, your bounce rate will be reduce, because he/she will say on your site longer, and check out other interesting posts as well.

There are many reasons for high bounce rate such as:

1. Page load time has a great impact on bounce rates. Visitors dislike sites which take more time to load especially mobile visitors.
2. You need to make sure that visitors do not feel navigation confusing. While measuring bounce rate, user clicking to a particular link is also considered.
3. A good amount of traffic usually comes from mobile devices and so your site should be "Responsive" in order to decrease bounce rate.

A high bounce rate can be caused by one or many different factors, including: Slow Page Loading Time, Intrusive Ad Placement, Confusing Page Layout, Lack of Consistency in Landing Page, Unclear Headlines,Too Many Pop-Ups. There are few ways that can help you to lower down those high bounce rate percentages. If you are registered with the Google Analytics, you will be able to pinpoint which posts or articles have a high bounce rate and which articles has a low bounce rate. Use of links is very important if you want to retain audience on your site. Make your content unique, I am sure that most audiences will be interested in reading more of those unique articles.

I'd say a 98% bounce rate is a technical problem waiting to be solved. It's likely that the website's codebase is a mess, with inefficient algorithms and poor database optimization. Maybe it's time to refactor the code, adopt a more modular approach, and leverage caching mechanisms to improve performance. But, let's be real, if you're not willing to put in the time to learn about web development best practices, then maybe you should stick to what you're good at. A high bounce rate is not just a problem, it's a symptom of a deeper issue - a lack of technical expertise.
