Hello everyone,
How can i resolve the internal Link Broken issue ?

Unlike with external links, you have complete control over internal links. By initiating good web practices, you can prevent broken links on your own website. We will get into these practices in a later post, but they include tactics like creating a uniform policy for when naming URLs, removing old content, and creating new drafts of pages.

If you find a broken link on your website, it is major trouble. It will harm your SEO, it will reduce trustworthiness, and your conversion rates will suffer. There are 4 ways to fix broken internal links:

1. Is It A Typo?

One common cause of broken internal links is typos. See if the 404 Error is because of a misspelling and fix it. Problem solved!

2. Make the Page Real Again

This is the best solution for fixing broken links in terms of SEO, especially if the missing page has backlinks pointing to it. However, this does mean more work (you've got to recreate the page). And, in some cases, it doesn't make sense to recreate the deleted page – such as if the page was for a product you don't offer anymore.

3. Redirects

Using 301 redirects is the method that Google recommends for fixing broken internal links. Ideally, you redirect to a page with relevant content – such as a relevant post or a category or tag page. Only redirect to the Home page as a last resort. Redirecting broken internal links does take a bit of time, but it will keep the link juice flowing and gets you more page views, which is good for your SEO.

4. Delete the Broken Link

This is the easiest method of dealing with broken internal links. The downside is that you lose an opportunity to increase page views, time on site, and pass link juice. Only delete the broken link if it really isn't crucial to your site.

Hello everyone,
How can i resolve the internal Link Broken issue ?

1) Use a link checker (such as this one) to find out if you have broken links. You can then go to the relevant pages and update or remove any broken links. It's also worth scheduling in a reminder every few months to check again and keep links up-to-date.

2) Test links you include in blogs or on new webpages to ensure they work before you publish the page. The same thing applies to any links you include in newsletters, emails or on social media.

3) If you change the URLs for your content, make sure to set-up 301 redirects, which will automatically redirect anyone who clicks on the old link to the new page. If using WordPress, there are a number of plugins you can use to set up 301 redirects.

4) Make restricted access pages clear so that users are prepared. For example, if a page is for members only, add a 'member login required' note next to the link.

5) When creating new pages for specific events, products or campaigns, make sure to use simple URLs so they're easier for users to type in and find – for example,

Hello everyone,
How can i resolve the internal Link Broken issue ?

Step 1: Find broken links
There are a number of tools you can use to identify broken links, many of them free.

Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a great free tool for tracking website performance, and it's also helpful for easily finding broken links.

Google Analytics offers the ability to set email alerts to get these broken link reports on a regular basis, as well as to export broken link details. Remember that redirecting and fixing broken links is an ongoing process. For the average website, once per month is an appropriate cycle.

Xenu
Another free tool we recommend is Xenu Link Sleuth.

Step 2: Create a report and track your changes
After identifying your broken links, create an Excel spreadsheet to track link redirect processes. Name it something like "Broken Link Redirect Report." In Google Analytics, you can export the report you just created by clicking Export – CSV for Excel on the top of the page, and downloading the file. For our purposes, we only need the data on broken links, page views and unique page views, so copy and paste these data columns into the Excel spreadsheet you have created.

Step 3: Analyze data and decide which pages should be redirected
After all the preparation, we come to the important stage. Both Google Analytics and Xenu give us a list of links that may be broken. But before actually redirecting them, you should first analyze the pages and the reasons they may not be working properly.

Step 4: Redirect in CMS
Finally, it's time to actually redirect the broken links in your content management system (CMS).

Hello everyone,
How can i resolve the internal Link Broken issue ?

Step #1: Finding ALL broken links on your site

Step #2: Fixing ALL broken links on your site
In all honesty, this is quite an easy task—it's just super-boring!

Here are the two possible fixes:

Replace the broken links with live links: Depending on how many broken links you find on your website, this could take all of 5 minutes, or weeks. The process itself is pretty self-explanatory—find a replacement for the broken link, then replace it on your site. (Oh, and if you're unsure what the link used to point to, try throwing it into the Wayback Machine.)
Remove the links: Again, this can be time-consuming if you have a lot of broken links, but the process is straightforward—locate the link in the content, then just remove it.

Hello everyone,
How can i resolve the internal Link Broken issue ?

Fixing broken links is very easy. The best option will depend on the type and purpose of the link. For instance, if pointing to an external resource that complemented our content, we can delete the link, while leaving the anchor text. Or we could also use the same anchor text to lead our users to a different website.

If the dead links are internal, we should set 301 redirects. A 301 redirect means that the page in question has been permanently moved. If we use WordPress, we can easily set 301 redirects with a plugin such as Redirection or 301 Redirects.
