During a technical SEO audit, we discovered a significant number of product pages are being indexed with URL parameters (e.g., ?sort=price&filter=in_stock), creating duplicate content issues with the canonical versions.

We are considering implementing parameter handling in Google Search Console versus using the rel="canonical" tag on these parameterized pages.

From your experience, which method is more robust for ensuring the correct canonical version is ranked, especially for a large e-commerce site? Any pitfalls to avoid with either approach?

Thank you for your time and valuable insight.

Best regards,
