I've got a couple of sites and I think everyone wants to get page #1 and spot #1, but obviously this doesn't always happen.

For most of my sites I'm either page#1 or page #2 either way I'm happy with those rankings. and I usually aim for long tail rankings too, rather have 10 long tail page #1 rankings than 1 page#2 heavy keyword ranking. I think the latter is tougher and the pay off is less.
