anchor text -- too little/too much?
« on: 10-05-2011, 19:32:51 »
How important is anchor text? I have a number of site mao style search engine helper pages that I would like to work on to increase my PR.

Will adding the headline and abstract of the article in to the anchor text help my page rank, or risk it considering the length og text within the link?

Has anyone ever heard of anchor text in a link being too long for search engines to consider valid?

Thanks in advance!

Anchor text is the clickable text in a hyperlink. The anchor text is also identified as the link title. An exact match anchor text has the same keywords tinted as the targeted keyword of a web page. Anchor texts are one of the many signals search engines use to decide the topic of a web page, and can direct to an internal or external web page.

Anchor text is that text which a seo professional use probably while doing OFF Page for a website i.e. while making backlinks for a website mostly we use anchor text only that helps to redirect from external web page to your domain. This helps to increase the visitors on a particular website and increase its page rank as well. It is a clickable text which is very helpful to attract online visitors towards a website rather then using generic keywords.

The Anchor text is the clickable text or keywords that has a hyperlink means a link is coded in the text and when some click the text it redirects mainly to another webpage.

Anchor text is useful to create  a backlink and it also help to get traffic to the particular websites and increase the page rank as well.

It is noted that, the anchor text will remain not more than 60 words.

How Google derives a Link’s relevance

Before we go on to conclude the importance of anchor text right now, let’s take a look at how Google derives an individual link’s relevance. Basically, there are three major ways:

Anchor Text

The anchor text is what we want to tackle today. This is the blue underlined text that is clickable and will take you to another webpage to which it is pointing to. There have been many controversies and exchange of ideas surrounding anchor text – some swear by its effectiveness, while others proclaim its death.

Recently, Google has announced that it will gradually reduce its dependence on anchor text until it has minimal effect. Lots of sources have given infographs about the future of SEO factors – and it clearly shows that anchor text is in rapid decline.

Anchor Title

The anchor title is the tool-tip text that appears whenever you mouse-over on a link. The importance and weight of the anchor title is not really as big as the anchor text – but it is one of the most visible factors describing the link and what it is pointing to.

I personally think that Google derives a link’s relevance from an anchor title too albeit not too much.

I can actually see that anchor text is not having such a good effect as it once did. These days branded anchor text is still important.
