BNO News is a news agency based in Tilburg, the Netherlands and is currently in development. It maintained a popular Twitter-based news service until December 1, 2009 when it had nearly 1.5 million subscribers.

BNO News was originally founded by Michael van Poppel who lives in the Netherlands and the company was mainly based on the Twitter social networking site until December 2009 when it announced plans to launch a subscription-based news wire service to media organizations.

The company also announced it would end its Twitter-based news service and transfer the management of the account to MSNBC.com as of December 1, 2009. It had nearly 1.5 million followers on its last day, making it one of the most popular news services on Twitter. The service was maintained by a number of journalists from the Netherlands, Ireland, Mexico, and the United States.

In 2009 the company also launched an iPhone application, which is still available. BNO News said the iPhone application was not part of the deal with MSNBC.com and said it would continue to control its content.

BNO News in late November 2009 also announced it would launch a subscription-based news wire service in January 2010. The service will only be available to news companies. As of December 2009, BNO News said that MSNBC.com and Thaindian News have both signed contracts to become to first clients of the news wire service.

The company said it is currently in talks with other publishers.

On September 7, 2007, it reportedly obtained an unpublished videotape featuring Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, which was later sold to the Reuters news agency.
