Social investment websites are websites in which novice investors are taught to invest using a virtual portfolio or websites in which investors can learn from each other and act together to gain a greater advantage and better insights into the stock market and other investments. These range from forms of prediction markets and other forms of predictive websites (Piqqem, PredictWallStreet) and investment knowledge sharing sites (Cake Financial, Covestor) to advanced wikis with deep content (Wikinvest)
History
Social investment websites study the personal investment strategies of members to come up with an algorithm that can help hedge funds and other users develop comprehensive strategies. Many high schools and universities in North America now have clubs or teams which compete to achieve a higher return, using virtual portfolios.
