few directories were use to be of importance but not much now, some handful of most popular directories were banned by Google as they were selling links so better market your site and service at social bookmarking sites without spamming them.

I think social book mark and directory submission both are important for traffic and PR.Social book marking can get huge amount of traffic and directory submission is good for site PR.

A while ago a lot of people were crazy about directory submission, however, recently social bookmarking has become more popular. Which method do you prefer more.

In my opinion the people crazy about both types. Directory submission and social bookmarking submission. Both are popular. Directories are less valuable nowadays. Social bookmarking is a good way, but I am sure Google is putting a filter on some of those as well due to high SPAM.

I prefer social bookmarking. social bookmarking is more important than Directory submission.

I prefer using social bookmarking since you can build then a profile add friend and build a network so it is easy to promote your site, but I also used directory submission in my campaign.
