What is IP address?
IP is an Internet Protocol. IP Address specifies the location of your machine on the Internet. Internet in fact works on the site numbering system. These numbers, called Internet Protocol addresses, are cryptic 32-bit numbers that are the Internet's equivalent of a phone number in real life. Every PC connected to the internet has an IP address.
The IP routing system is responsible for transferring data between PCs given the IP addresses of the receiver and sender. Not many websites on the Internet request you directly for your IP address.
Each computer on the Internet has a unique identifying number, called an IP Address. A typical IP address looks like this: 81.177.24.29. IP addresses are usually expressed in decimal format as a dotted decimal number. But PCs communicate in binary form. Look at the same IP address in binary: 10011100.00011011.00111001.10001000
The four numbers of IP address are called octets, since they each have eight positions when viewed in binary form. When you add all the positions together, you get 32, which is why IP addresses are considered 32-bit numbers. Out of the almost 4.4 billion possible combinations, certain values are restricted from use as usual IP addresses.
Domain Name System (DNS) allows the IP address to be translated to words. We can remember a word than a series of numbers. The same thing is true for email addresses.
For instance, it is much easier to remember a webaddress name such as yaldex.com than it is to remember 81.177.24.29 or in the case of email it is much easier to remember admin@yaldex.com than admin@81.177.24.29
Dynamic IP Address is not static and could change at any time. That IP address is issued to you from a group of IP addresses owed by your provider or DHCP Server. It is used for a large number of clients that do not need the same IP Address all the time. Your PC will automatically get this number as it logs on to the net. This number can be assigned to anybody using Wireless, dial-up connection or High Speed Internet connections. If you want to run your own web or email server, it would be better to have a static IP.
Static IP Address is fixed and never changes. This is in contrast to a dynamic IP address which can change at any time.
How to Hide IP Address
It is very easy to answer questions like how to hide IP address. If you need to change or hide your IP address, the best way to your problem is a proxy server. Proxy servers let you to hide any IP online and make it completely not possible for anyone to know that you have hidden your IP address or what your original IP is.
Proxy servers transfer data back to your PC while you are web surfing. Your real web surfing is done through or via the proxy server. This means that IP you use while online isn't your home machines IP, it is the IP of the proxy. So, if somebody looks at your IP while you are surfing their site, all they can see is the IP of the proxy and if you are using an elite proxy they have no way of knowing that you changed your IP.
Elite proxies are the best of all the different kinds of proxy servers because they propose the highest level of anonymity possible from a proxy. If anyone examines or looks at an IP on an elite proxy they can detect nothing odd about it. They cannot know that you are using a proxy server.
How to find a geolocation from an IP Address?
Union of IP address to a geographical location is called geolocation. Sometimes you need to identify where your web visitors are coming from. You can have an ecommerce web site, and would like to know where your potential clients are.
How accurate is GeoLocation?
Geolocation is the practice of identifying the physical, real world position of a person, tool or subject matter using digital information processed through the net or other electronic means of communication.
Geolocation can detect region, city and ZIP code from which someone is or has connected to the www by using their device's IP address. Accuracy rates on getting a city from an IP address vary between 60 and 90 percent, according to DNS Stuff.
Even when not accurate, geolocation can put users in a bordering or nearby city, which could be good enough for the entity seeking the info. Business geolocation service providers are continually developing and discovering new ways to develop their information databases, and as a result their accuracy.
What is geolocation used for?
Geolocation determines the geographical location of site users based on the IP for systems like target content, fraud detection, spam filter, geo-targeted ads and so on.
